About SchemeReady

SchemeReady is a self-assessment tool for firms preparing for an ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, BS 99001 or National Highways Sector Scheme audit.

Who makes it

SchemeReady is made and run by Denver House Consultancy Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, number 15473342, with its registered office at 82a James Carter Road, Mildenhall, Suffolk IP28 7DE. SchemeReady is a trading name of that company, as stated on every page and report. Denver House also provides management systems consultancy, which it sells separately from SchemeReady.

Denver House provides the ISO and sector scheme expertise behind SchemeReady. Our lead auditor qualifications and experience are listed on the Denver House about page.

SchemeReady is not connected with Lantra, National Highways, UKAS, the Sector Scheme Advisory Committee or any certification body. We don't recommend any certification body or other consultant, and we take no referral fees. If you need a certification body, look in the UKAS directory of management systems certification bodies. Lantra's Schedule of Suppliers shows who holds which sector scheme.

Where the questions come from

There's a bank for each standard we cover: ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, BS 99001 and National Highways Sector Schemes 12D, 12A/B, 12C, 16, 23, 7 and 8. The standards page lists them all. Every sector scheme applies ISO 9001, so each pack sits on one shared ISO 9001 core. A sector scheme assessment includes that core at no extra cost and scores you against both. Where two standards you hold ask the same question, you answer it once.

The questions were written from the published document for each standard, the 12D bank from Issue 5 (July 2025) and the assessor and client guidance in its appendices, together with NHSS 0, National Highways' published safety alerts and Raising the Bar documents, and the general literature on ISO 9001 audits. Every source is listed on the sources page. The questions are written in our own words and don't reproduce scheme or ISO text, which belongs to its publishers. Each question shows the clause or appendix it relates to and which standards it counts toward. You can check it against your own copy of the document, which Lantra publishes free of charge.

Where SchemeReady quotes a figure for street works or road works, it quotes it from the Department for Transport's Safety at Street Works and Road Works, A Code of Practice (October 2013, second impression with amendments June 2014), and names the passage. The Code contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v2.0.

How the assessment works and who sees your answers

Every firm holding the same standards gets the same questions, scoring rules and suggested actions, with a separate score and band for each standard. Your answers are held in your own account and on your own devices. SchemeReady administrators can read them when you ask us for help, to look into a fault or a security problem, or when the law requires it. Every read is recorded. Nobody at SchemeReady reviews your report or advises on your answers. You carry out the self-assessment yourself. The tool asks the questions in a set order and scores the answers by a published rule.

The AI checks and Compliance Tools are optional, and you start each one yourself. When you do, what that check or tool needs from your account, such as your answers and notes or the documents you upload, goes to our AI provider, where a language model reads it. Before the first run in a session, you tick one box to agree. Your data isn't used to train AI models, and documents you upload aren't kept after the run. The privacy notice names the provider and the how it works page describes the checks.

Limitations

  • A SchemeReady result is not an audit, a certificate or a promise about how your audit will go. An assessor looks at your records, sites and staff and may reach a different view.
  • Using SchemeReady is not consultancy. If you want a person to look at your system, we sell an expert hour on its own, labelled as consultancy and priced separately.
  • The site walk records observations and is not a safety assessment. Your own risk assessment and your competent person govern what happens on site and, for traffic management, so does Chapter 8.
  • SchemeReady does not contain a copy of any scheme or ISO document. Clause numbers are given for reference only, so you can check our wording against the original.

Keeping the content current

Each sector scheme document is reviewed by its committee at least once a year. For the sector schemes, we check Lantra's Schedule of Suppliers page every month and after any industry notice, and record the check on the sources page. When a document changes, we publish a new version of that bank. A licence includes every bank version published during its twelve months, for every standard you hold. The 12D bank is written against Issue 5, July 2025, and the issue and date of every other bank are on the standards page. Last check: 5 September 2026. ISO 9001:2026 was published on 16 September 2026. We'll update the bank when the transition arrangements are published.

Reporting a problem with a question

If you find a question that's wrong, out of date or unclear, email [email protected]. We'll reply soon. We correct the question and publish a new bank version, and every report shows which version it used.
